iOS6 Untethered Jailbreak to be Released on Super Bowl Sunday?
My hands are clammy and I can’t stop my racing mind. Did I just read the latest jailbreak headline right? That the elusive untethered iOS 6 jailbreak will be unleashed to us this Sunday?
At last, Apple has released the much-awaited update to its premiere mobile operating system, iOS 6.1, without much fanfare but could prove to be a milestone for the jailbreaking community.
iOS 6.1 packs a lot of bug fixes and highlights the following noteworthy features : 1. LTE support for additional carriers; 2. Ability to purchase movie tickets through Fandango via Siri (US); 3. Download individual songs from iCloud for iTunes Match subscribers; and 4. A new reset button for the Advertising identifier.
Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing sums it up by saying:
“iOS 6 is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, and with nearly 300 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices on iOS 6 in just five months, it may be the most popular new version of an OS in history. iOS 6.1 brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultrafast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services, and iTunes and App Store downloads.”
In the past couple of weeks leading to Apple’s release of iOS 6.1, there has been a sudden flurry of news regarding the extremely elusive untethered jailbreak for the said operating system which has confounded almost all of our diligent jailbreak wizards for the longest time.
Perhaps the biggest news to date for the jailbreaking scene is the announcement of Team Evad3rs’ untethered iOS 6 jailbreak for all iDevices. Recently formed (or named) Team Evad3rs, as we all know, is the new Jailbreak Dream Team whose members are well-known jailbreak gurus in the scene (Pod2g, MuscleNerd, Pimskeks and PlanetBeing). They’ve been around forever since the onset of the jailbreak scene and have been responsible for a lot of jailbreaks and jailbreak tools in the past.
But their latest achievement would be unleashed to us this coming Sunday (February 3, 2013) or earlier, if were really lucky! Team Evad3rs was just waiting for Apple to release its latest iOS 6.1 update and now that the firm from Cupertino did just that last Monday, it’s the Team’s turn to break the good news that their untethered jailbreak has been confirmed working on Apple’s latest mobile OS update for all iDevices.
Yes, folks, our long wait is finally over!
Can’t wait for Sunday…
