How to Take Screenshots of Any Website with Safari

Awesome Screenshot for Safari on Mac

You have a Mac and you need a screenshot of a website – Maybe it’s for a Keynote presentation, a Pages document, for your own blog, archive, etc. Whatever the reason, you need a screenshot fast. Good news…

Awesome Screenshot is a free extension for Safari:

“Awesome Screenshot lets you capture, annotate, and share screenshots with a click. You can crop, show area dimensions, annotate with shapes and text, and blur your screenshot. You can even choose to capture the entire web page. Then upload your screenshot to share it.”

You can download & install Awesome Screenshot here: https://extensions.apple.com/

What does Awesome Screenshot do?

  • Grab a screenshot of any website
  • Then you can crop, draw and type on the image
  • Save the file as a .PNG image
  • Cool Feature: There’s an UNDO button if you make a mistake

How does it work?

After you install the extension, you’ll see the Awesome Screenshot icon in Safari – it’s next to the address bar (see image below)

Just click the button to open the Awesome Screenshot interface. That’s where you start editing the image.

Example

The first image in this post is a view of the editing interface. I took a screenshot of this CNN.com Page about the iPhone 5.

If you want a better view of the editing tools, click here for the full-size image.

Tutorial?

Awesome Screenshot is very, very easy to use (plus, you already own a Mac, which means you’re smarter than most people!). That’s why I’m not writing a full tutorial about it. If you spend a few minutes working with it, you’ll figure it out.
